What does 'Arrival Scan' mean?

What does Arrival Scan mean for USPS?

  • I ordered an Amazon Kindle Fire a few days ago. The estimated time for tracking is December 9th but it's telling the Kindle Fire is already in Philadelphia, PA. I'm from Philadelphia, PA. Does this mean I will receive it today? If not tomorrow? Keep in mind that its said it arrived in Philadelphia at 2 o'clock in the morning. Below is the current status. Status: In transit Ship Carrier: USPS Latest Event: Philadelphia PA Arrival Scan - December 5, 2011 2:15:00 PM

  • Answer:

We don't know. The only guess we can make is rather useless - maybe, or maybe not. It will arrive whenever it gets onto the truck carrying mail for your house.

Arrival Scan is when USPS accepts your package at that hub. Next on the list should be a Departure Scan: that will indicate that your package has left the Philadelphia Distribution Center.

Actually, it looks like 2:15 in the afternoon is when it arrived. That means it's likely for delivery on December 6th. In other words, It's probably been delivered a few hours before I'm writing this.
