What is the baggage limit?

Is the old Lufthansa weight limit for baggage 23 kg total or 23kg per piece of luggage?

  • I bought my ticket in Dec for a trip on Sat from the US to Germany. The website says that tickets purchased prior to 12/31/09 will still follow the old baggage limits. I looked at the amount but I cant figure out if it means that it is 23 kgs per piece (2 pieces) or if it is 2 pieces weighing 23kg max together. http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/lh/us/info_and_services/baggage?nodeid=1769603&l=en&cid=1000390&blt_p=US&blt_l=en&blt_t=Info_and_Services%3EBaggage&blt_e=Content&blt_n=Free%20baggage%20allowan&blt_z=Free%20baggage%20allowan&blt_c=US|en|Info_and_Services%3EBaggage|Content|Free%20baggage%20allowan|Free%20baggage%20allowan

  • Answer:

If it says two pieces allowance, then it is 23kgs per piece or 50 lbs per piece. Each piece must NOT exceed 23kgs. So you CAN NOT have one piece at 30 kgs and the other piece at 13 kgs.. It is not a accumulated weight allowance two 23 kgs.
