How to organize a backpack?

Help! I need to organize my HUGE backpack!?

  • I have an enormousJansport backpack I need for my high school classes. It's literally twice as wide as my torso (as seen from the side) and I'm not even super thin. It's so embarrassing because I always accidentally hit people behind me (amid shouts of "****ing freshman!!" D:). I don't have much time to run to my locker (only before school, before lunch, after school) because my classes are scattered throughout my huge two-story high school--conveniently on the other side of the school from my locker. Here's what I have, please help me figure out how to downsize! 1. 2.5 inch binder with dividers needed for History/English, contains expanding file folders. It also holds extra notebook paper and index cards (needed for science). This binder contains my SOUL. 2. 3 big "Five Star" notebooks (you know, the ones with heavy-duty plastic covers and cardboard backs) 3. Comp book for science. 4. Pencil bag (1 pencil, 4 highlighters for history, graphing calculator, 1 multi-color pen, extra lead). 5. Two baby-killingly heavy textbooks (science, math). YES I need both of them at all times. 6. Planner (not a big deal, I can shove it inside my binder lol). 7. Lunchbox (includes one of those round space-consuming therma-bowl things with a lid. my parents don't let me use anything else to bring my food). And, of course, an "ECO-FRIENDLY" STAINLESS STEEL water bottle. Also my parents' idea. Apparently the trace amounts of plastic chemicals in smaller normal bottles will kill me before my 32-pound backpack will (I weighed it). The lunchbox and bottle I put in my locker before school, but I have to keep them in my backpack for the last two periods because I can't run back to my locker after lunch. 8. blahblah a few emergency feminine products, small coin pouch, cell phone, misc. I don't even carry those makeup boxes that a lot of other girls use. HELP. How can I organize my things?? How could I persuade my parents to ditch the water bottle and therma-thing? How do I relieve this awful back pain?? This extra weight is even killing my legs ):

  • Answer:

Show your parents this question and ask them to help you to work it out. If you really have a back pain regularly, you should reduce the weight of your things more than just bringing your lunch and drink in a smaller container. Do you need all notebooks as well as all in the binder every day? When I was in school I could get away with putting extra sheets in my binders and do without notebooks. I divided the subjects into separate binders so I did not have to bring all to school each day, only on the day I had that subject. Maybe you should run to your locker more often, spend less time chatting with your friends, so you can put things away. Or ask your school to have a second set of lockers on the other end of school. I never had a locker in school, so I had to carry everything all day, all the time. make use of what you have.
