Who knows about GPS system?

Pack gps for travel?

  • I wanted to know if any one knows the best way to pack a gps system for travel. I have a garmin streetpilot i3 and on a recent trip I put it in my checked backage in the box it came in with some bubble wrap. When I opened it the system worked but the voice prompt stopped working. I got it fixed. I am going to travel again and would like to know if here is a better way to pack it so it won't be damage the voice prompt or the system.

  • Answer:

I believe something else happened to it. Hard to believe it could be damaged while in bubble wrap. Was probably going to break anyway. Check with the manufacturer and see if X-rays will hurt it.

This could be stolen out of a checked bag very easily and probably not replaceable for the pittance the airline may offer. Your best bet would be to carefully pack it in your carry-on bag.
