How can you ship something?

How can I ship/send something?

  • I want to send something in the mail to someone who lives states away. Can I just put what I want into an envelope then put a stamp on it and enter it through the drive by slot at the post office? Or would I have to pay additional fees and acutally take it inside the post office and have them get a new stamp and all that. Thanks

    If it weighs less than 13 ounces you can use the USPS online postage calculator to find out how much postage to affix to the package. You can drop the package in any mail drop. You can send paper in an envelope. Three dimensional objects need to be in a box or padded mailer. Postage for packages is now a formula of weight and distance. The most economical option is often the "if it fits it ships" boxes that come in different sizes. http://www.usps.com will tell you what you need to know, but if shipping is new to you--and it sounds like it is-- it is wise to go into the PO and work with a clerk so you know everything is done correctly. This will ensure what you are mailing has a better chance of arriving safely.

If it's just a regular letter sized envelope, one 44cent/forever stamp is good. If it's a big manilla envelope,you'll need more postage

Go inside of the post office if it is a package. If it just a plan white envelope then yes you can do that.
