I travelled around Europe with a back pack that also has wheels. I bought it in the US - brand called Pangaeia - it was excellent. Had a long retractable handle to pull along. It had a zip section which when you opened it had straps and a waist belt to turn into a backpack. It also had a ziip off front section that you could use as a day pack. There are not cheap however. They are available from REI online http://www.rei.com/luggage/TOC/Wheeled+Packs?cm_re=toc*toc*wheeled_packs&vcat=REI_SSHP_TRAVEL_TOC

Use a medium-size rolling suitcase with wheels that don't squeak. Also take a >> good << "day-pack" size back-pack and use it as a carry-on.
