What is a good rear-wheel wheelchair in the US?

Will a wheelchair be counted as one of my checked bags when flying to Thailand if it's not actually my chair?

  • I will be traveling to Thailand in February on a wheelchair distribution missions trip. The wheelchairs are all shipped in containers, but I am bringing one with me, a pediatric chair that belonged to my thirteen year old brother who died in September. I'm taking it with me so I can personally meet the child who receives it. My question is, since I'm not actually bringing it as my wheelchair to use, will the wheelchair be counted as one of my allotted two checked bags, or will I be able to check two bags and the wheelchair? I'm bringing a lot of donations so it would be amazing if I could still have two bags, but I don't want to get to the airport and find out its the wheelchair or one of my bags! Thank you!

  • Answer:

Of course it will count as one of "your" bags. Does not matter if it is a gift for someone, YOU are the owner now and You are the person bringing it on the plane. You could call the airline and ask how much the extra charge is if you bring 2 bags plus the wheelchair.
