UK passport traveling to USA?

Im traveling from uk to usa do i need adult passport?

  • Hey I'm 18 and travelling to the USA from the UK, do i need an adult passport. My latest child passport is still issued unitil 2012... so do i need an adult one even though m child one has not run out yet? Can i still just use the child one?

  • Answer:

Yes, you can still use your child passport which was issued in 2007 since it meets all passport requirements for travel to the United States on the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) which means it is machine-readable [since 1988], holds a digital photograph [since 2004], and has an electronic chip [since 2006]. For travelling under the VWP you will need to apply online for a travel authorization (ESTA) on the website of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security which is free of charge. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ .. You may apply for the ESTA at anytime, even if you do not know your flight and address details, yet. These columns are optional. Your ESTA will be valid for two years or until your passport expires whichever may occur first.
