When will I get my package?

When will my package get in from USPS priority?

  • Since USPS Priority doesn't have good tracking at all I heard how will I know when I'm going to get my package. I ordered my package on Monday at around 11:30p.m.. Also does USPS make you sign for a package? Thanks!

  • Answer:

Actually, USPS Priority Mail does have tracking capability if the sender either paid for tracking when posting the parcel at the post office, or if the sender paid for postage online and printed the address label. In the latter case, tracking is a free service. Only if you post a package at the post office and don't pay for tracking service is it unavailable. Priority Mail generally takes from 2 to 3 days...so the post office claims. I have generally found this to be true, though over Christmas I sent two Priority Mail parcels on the same day, one going to my brother in Tennessee and one going to Massachusetts. The one to Massachusetts was delivered in three days. My brother's took two weeks. And the post office wonders why it's in financial woes. Anyway, give your parcel at least until tomorrow or Thursday's delivery to arrive. Your package may not have been shipped until today if you only ordered it yesterday. You only have to sign for a package if it's registered, certified, insured, or if your letter carrier doesn't generally leave parcels on your doorstep or porch in your absence. In bigger cities letter carriers are not allowed to leave parcels in a place where a thief might make off with them, so you'll have to be home to receive it, or will have to go pick it up at the post office if the letter carrier leaves you a delivery attempt slip.

priority usually takes from three to six days, but like some stuff we ordered a few months back, can take over three weeks. If it is sent insured, or signature required, then yes, you have to sign the delivery receipt.
