Answer:
I bought Spacebags despite their mediocre reviews on Amazon. Because in my experience about ¼ of the time they lose their vacuum seal, I ended up buying plastic zip under-bed bags from Wal-Mart. I put the vacuum sealed Spacebags inside these bags so that even if they lose their vacuum, they can’t expand any further than the under-bed bag. Their biggest pro is that you really can store a lot of stuff in a small amount of space. Their biggest con, IMO, is that some of them do leak, and I haven’t been able to figure out what the variable is for this inconsistent performance. A couple of other drawbacks are that the large ones become quite heavy once filled, and if you use them to store clothes, they’re going to be quite wrinkled when you take them out. All the stuff I need to store that can’t really go in the attic or basement is in Spacebags inside of under-bed bags, under beds in the spare bedrooms. This includes primarily extra bedding, towels, pillows, and a few keepsake linens. It’s worked out really well for me and has proven to be a great method to store a lot of stuff in little space.

My mom swears by space bags. To me, I don't like how my clothes end up really wrinkled. But you can fit more in. Just make sure you follow the instructions so you don't bust it.

I bought several a few years ago and they simply didn't work as advertised. When I went to get the bags out of the closet a couple of months later they had simply "re inflated" and would never seal up the same again. I called the company and they told me I had over filled the bag, but I followed all the instructions that came with them, and stopped well before the line on the bag. In my opinion they are a waste of money.

I bought a few, I think at Wal Mart, to help compress some clothing for a move. They initially worked great and compressed my stuff by at least half, but after a couple hours the clothing had expanded again. The seal of the bag isn't tight enough to last...I even tried duct taping the top and airhole of the bag with no luck. Save your money (or at least your receipt so you can get a refund!).

...which starts and ends with a two day road trip. These were to go in a roof bag, where if it got really wet, there could be leakage. When we got to our destination, almost every bag had opened and we were lucky that the openings had been facing rearward and we didn't have much of a problem. But we have never had these things stay properly vacuum sealed for any more than a few days. The problem appears to be the zip lock. Garbage.

I've used them for two purposes: 1: Underbed storage 2: Packing a suitcase. I think they're great. The ones I've used for the vaccum work well. Smaller bags you "roll" and push out air for the seal don't work as well, but I have made my suitcases cram twice as much by using them. When leaving Montana, my bag got searched in front of me, and the TSA worker chuckled and said "Aren't you crafty?" I had two of them layered in there!!! For home usage, I have them holding winter clothes and costumes within rubbermaid containers, and I have some in the closet, come to think of it. Living in an old building with small closets, dust and a cat, they helped keep my clothes dust and cat-hair free. Just fold everything neatly in, and make sure when you're sealing them they seal evenly. If they're lumpy, they don't lay well for storage. Go for it!
Hi! I've tried them. I really didn't care for them. For me, personally, theydidn't hold enough to my liking. I prefer to buy the plastic storage containers. I bought a huge plastic container for all of the stuff on my overcrowded desk. It fits nicely under my desk and I can get at it whenever I want. I guess it depends on the amount of space you have to store things. You might like to buy a package and try it out for yourself and see what you think. You may just love them!!!
