Can you bring cigarettes on a plane?

  • I'm a minor and I was wondering if I could bring a few packs of cigarettes onto a plane, not in my carry-on but in my checked baggage. If they see them is that a bad thing, will i get in any trouble? And if i put a lighter into my checked baggage will they throw it away?

    From a flight attendant: You can check them in your luggage or carry them on. No lighters though. If you light up on an airplane be prepared to be arrested. It is not only a crime but a FEDERAL crime, which holds much higher punishments! The FAA and airlines are cracking down on all offenses. My suggestion: Quit smoking

Well since your a minor they may ask you for id, in that case your SOL, but if not then your fine, you just cant have a lighter on a plane, so your best bet is to just give it to someone asking for one getting off a plane when you are getting on yours and then ask yourself when you arrive at your destination.

smoking is not cool, a waste of money, and will eventually kill you... so you would be very smart and have a lot more money if you quit the habit before you really start. However, if you are dumb and independently weathy, you are free to carry cigarettes on the plane with you. No one cares that you are a minor breaking the law. You can also free to carry the ligher on to the plane with you. - You can NOT put cigarettes or a lighter in your checked luggage. Flamable items DO NOT belong in checked luggage.

you can usually smoke up in the bathroom if you get a nic fit. as long as you put a wet paper towel over the smoke detector, and are quick about it, no one's going to care. The flight attendants are usually fine with it, sometimes they might ask for a puff.

If they want to they can arrest you, even though you will only get a fine. Play it safe and don't give any sort of law enforcement to mess you up. Lighters can be put in your suitcase that goes into the baggage of the plane but not into the cabin.
