Where can I find a list of TSA rules and procedures?

  • I would like a copy of the current rules and procedures that the TSA is supposed to follow in regards to pat downs and screenings.

    You can't. The actual procedures as to what the screeners can and cannot do is classified as Sensitive Security Information (SSI). TSA claims it is necessary to prevent terrorist from figuring ways to attack airliners but the real reason is so that they conceal inconsistent and incorrect practices. Like they couldn't do this from the ground with a RPG and TSA wouldn't be anywhere around. This allows them to do anything they want and you can't challenge them, even in court. If you print the TSA pages and take them with you, the screeners will still tell you that the website is out of date and will do whatever they want.

The only place to go is to the TSA website itself. In case you are having trouble finding it, this is where to look: http://www.tsa.gov/ EDIT: You could look around the FAA site, such as here: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ash/ash_programs/hazmat/regulation_policy/ which has links to lots of more detailed PDF files on various regulations. Or here: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ash/ash_programs/security/ But - be aware that if you are trying to yank the chains of the TSA personnel - just to prove a point - then the only point you will most likely prove is that they have no sense of humor and can still handcuff you and sit you in a little room for 6 hours regardless of what section, article or rule you cite. But - you will no doubt provide You Tube fodder once the security tapes of your encounter are released.
