What is the baggage allowance for my connecting flights?

Connecting flights baggage advice – help!?

  • Hi there, I recently booked a return flight from Belfast (U.K.) to Bangkok (Thailand) and I'm wondering how the transfer of bags is going to work as I'm stopping off in Manchester and Doha, switching planes each time. I booked the flights together, under a single ticket and the e-ticket lists them all under a single itinerary, issued by Qatar Airways. Will I have to collect the bags and check them through/ go through security again at each stop or will they be taken care of for me? I have contacted the people I booked this with but in the meantime I'd be grateful if anyone could share with me their general experiences of baggage transfer. I assume that booking it under one ticket means it will be checked through to Bangkok – would I be right in this? Many thanks.

  • Answer:

You have bought a through ticket. They will issue you with 3 boarding passes and stick your bag tag on on the rear of the last flight boarding pass. Load your baggage on the check in conveyor at Belfast and you don't see it again until the arrival conveyor at Bangkok. Have a god trip!

Yes, everything will be checked straight through to your final destination, and you pick up your bags in Bangkok. Normally, there's no prob but I *have* had bags miss a connecting flight before. They've always been on the very next flight, though, and the airline has then delivered the bags right to my hostel room door. To me, that was even better that getting my bag at the airport as it meant I didn't have to lug the bags to the hostel myself!

Just make sure you check it in all the way to BKK and you should be fine. Double check at the counter that it's done and check your baggage stickers just to be 100%. No worries...
