Can you bring food on an airplane?

What Food can I bring on a airplane?

  • I know that we can only take something 3 ounces. or less, but what is actually that size. I want to bring a snapple but I dont know if the bottle is 3 ounces or not. What do you usually take? And can I bring a bag of potato chips in the original bag or do I have to put it in a plastic bag...also I want to bring tuna, so can I bring a pack of that?

    Snapple bottles are WAYYY over 3 ounces 3 ounces is really small, soda cans are already 12 ounces! Just buy a drink at the airport, then you can take it with you onto the airplane Potato chips are fine, you can just leave it in the original bag, but if you want to be safe, you can put it into a plastic bag I'm not very sure about tuna though! call your airport and ask them!

You cannot bring any food, water, etc. through security. If you have lotion or lip gloss (no more than 3 ounces) - they must be placed in a plastic baggy and go through the x-ray machine. The only food you can bring on the plane is food you buy in the airport AFTER you have gone through security. Hope this helps. My husband and travel a lot and it is a pain not being able to take your own food like before - you just have to pay the high prices of the food places after you go through the main security check point. NOTE: If you leave lotion or lip gloss in your purse and do not put in baggy, they will take it away and trash it. Hope this helps. P.S. I saw where a lot of people told you you could bring certain food items - from experience - I am saying you cannot. A lot of airports are really tight on security and some are not - but if you want to try want people said in there answers, you could try - but be prepared for it to be trashed. Sorry.

I Hate to say this, But Catlover is right.... I travel all over the world, Drinks are not allowed past security now in all the airports I've traveled through. Chips would be ok, however I have been in airports where Food is not allowed in the Gate area before boarding the plane.... small Candy bars and the like is ok, but if your planning a picnick on the plane.... Good Luck..!

If you are in the U.S you can bring your Tuna, if it is 3oz or less. as for the chips and Snapple- no. You can purchase those after you check in through security and then you can bring it on the plane.http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10

Screw the TSA, just bring whatever you want! Just let them deal with it. Lighters and Matches are allowed again, but GOD forbid a COKE can gets on board!! Ridiculous!!!

bring all the food you want, just not drinks. You will have to purchace drinks after you go through security.
