Will the Cambridge Diet Products (uk) be aloud through american customs and what as?

The cambridge diet is a full meal replacement diet in which the food comes as various powders that you mix with water. I have been on this diet for a month with a lot of success and i am now about to fly to america for a holiday and i would like to take some of the products with me so i don't pig out so much and put on a LOAD of weight. My question is about customs. I will need to take about 20 packets with me. What do i do with them at customs? Declare them as food or health items? will they even be aloud into the country? I don't wanna spend 40 quid on them and then have them taken off me. Thanks very much in advance!
