How to get the best price on priceline?

• I am using the "Name your own price" on priceline. I am trying to book the venetian in las vegas, nevada. I put in north strip and 5 stars. We are going in the middle of august on the weekend. So far i bid up to $160.00 but it was not accepted. The average price for a 5 star hotel is $279.00 during this time (as it states on the bottom of the bidding area) but the venetian is going for $200.00 per night on priceline and hotels.com. Name your own price is suppose to help you save up to 60% on a hotel but I'm beginning to think you end up paying the same price..give or take 5 dollars in savings... but the priceline taxes and fees are very high so you end up paying the same price. Does anyone know any tricks to priceline on getting a good hotel for a decent price? Is there a certain day or time which is best to bid on a hotel?

  In general, when you use the "Name Your Own Price" feature, you do save a lot of money. I have used it before and have had great success. I'm not sure why you're not having much luck, but if you know you want to stay at the Venetian, you should find a different way to book your stay to ensure you get that hotel because your offer could be accepted by a different hotel that you may not like so much. If you still want to name your own price, I suggest you go lower than $160 if it's going for $200 to make sure you get a good deal. But I would wait a day to try again through Priceline. It may be that they're not in the mood to negotiate at this particular time, lol. But seriously, they generally do accept low offers. Good luck!
