How long will a UK passport take to arrive? Plus identity interview question.?
-
I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm starting to get worried. I need a passport by 19th September. I've yet to send in my application, due to my countetsignatory being on holiday, and having to wait for both my and my mother's birth certificates. My mum's certificate should be here by 4th August, and if it takes 6 weeks I should have a space of about a week between when it arrives and when I need it. However, with the strikes and this being the busy time of year (I think), I'm beginning to worry it won't be here in time. Can anyone give me an accurate time of arrival time (this is my 1st adult passport)? Also, I've found little info on the interviews. Can someone tell me if I need to bring any documents with me or what questions I will be asked? Thank you in advance.

I think the passport service have a telephone information line available maybe you could give them a ring, sorry I don't have the number might be with your application form. Hope you get it on time.

Anywhere between 4-8 weeks, But you can pay a little extra for the express service which should take about 2 weeks or if in doubt go to your nearest passport office and pay to have it done within the day Good luck & enjoy your holiday :) x

you dont always have an interview, it just says you MAY have to attend an interview if you go on the passport website they have a phone number on there you can ring to hear how long passports are currently taking to be processed

I got my passport last year. I took it to the post office and paid for the checking system, it came back in about 10 days, which I was impressed with. I have other friends when it has taken over a month though. You can pay for the express service which I think guarantees it within 2 weeks, or you can go to the passport office and get one on the day; however this is much more expensive than waiting for the post. Re the interviews I didn't have to have one, but think you are more likely to be asked it its your first one. I would strongly suggest using the post office service as I reckon it might speed things up a bit, costs a few pounds. Hope this helps and that it comes through on time.

all in all mine took months, i applied in janurary, and i got it in may. they sent my pictures back twice and i had to get them redone, then they sent it back because they said my signature went outside the box. then i had to wait for an interview. 5 months it took. its a joke. as for the interview, it takes 20 minutes, they ask you to confirm everything you wrote in your application, they ask you questions about your family, and if you gave an email address and phone number on your application they ask you to confirm them too. also you have to tell them how you know the person who signed your photos.
