Do you need a passport to cross the border by car?

  • i was going to fly to LA from Mexico but i lost my passport so now im driving to LA instead but i only got my drivers licence and birth certificate and yes im a USA citizen ...will i be able to cross the border towards San Diego with just my drivers licence and birth certificate ????

Yes, the law was changed a couple of years ago and they are finally enforcing it. You NEED a passport, or just follow the nearest group of illegals over the fence. You need to find a US Consulate, they can help you.
