Answer:
Milan is a very busy city, also very foggy and of course beautiful. Don't worry about the living cost here buddy! Now there is the regular huge discount all over Europe. And you will be happy to find those nice clothes with very reasonable prices here in the fashion capital of the world. Don't buy any suits to wear at your office before you come here. Instead buy some nice Italian brand ones from last season with good price. Well food might feel a bit expensive for you if you eat outside all the time. So if you wanna save a bit, just buy your food and food materials from big supermarkets and prepare something nice at home. You'll love prossciutto, mozarella and mortadella etc. But you should be aware of that San Donato is not Milan. It's very modern but is just 100% for business. I bet you'll be visiting Milano very often. Unless you earn a lot, don't take cabs in Milan especially in San Donato! Somehow you'll easily pay 20 Euros for let's say 2 miles! You will love Milanese highly organised public transports especially the underground. You can buy a 10 ride ticket with 10Euros or pay 30 Euros and get free rides for a whole month. Don't worry, you'll love it here. Let me know as you come, will ya Enjoy your trip to Milano!

Cost of living in Italy is higher than in the USA. Food will cost you about 1.5 times that in the USA as well as rents, clothing, shoes, taxi fares etc. (bus fares might be the same or perhaps cheaper than in the USA), remember that the rate of exchange for the dollar into euro is: $1.30 = 1euro (when the euro was introduced a few years ago, the exchange was 0.85 cents = 1euro).
