Can I bring a bottle of water on the plane?

  • TSA took my mustard the last time I flew. I want to bring a bottle of water on for our flight within the states, Montana to Michigan. I refuse to pay for water. If they won't let me take a bottle of water on, can I take an empty bottle on and fill it up within the security checkpoint?

    Yes, as long as you are past the checkpoint. Be careful though. Sometimes they have a surprise checkpoint before board the plane. In Hawaii, we got past one checkpoint, then we bought some fluids before boarding. As we headed for the plane, the pilots and flight attendants set-up a make-shift checkpoint just before we boarded the plane. We had to throw away water bottles and hand lotions we bought at the airport, even though we had a receipt. This was right after an explosives warning, so the flight crew was being extra careful. The procedures vary with airline and airport. I had never seen a flight crew participate in screenings before.

You can take water. I just flew all the way to Jamaica with an opened soda bottle in my hand, and they let me on the plane with it.

Yes, you can take an empty bottle and fill it at a drinking fountain after you go through security. There is no problem with that.

due to the restrictions these days you cant bring a bottle of water through customs at the airport. You can how ever purchase one in duty free. So you can bring one on the plane...

Yes as long as it is sealed. But when I went to Florida this summer people brought unsealed drinks on the plane and didn't have any problems getting through security.
