USPS Lost package! what do I do?

  • A few weeks ago i mailed a package to a buyer on Ebay through USPS first class mail international (it was to Germany). It said first class mail for international was 6-10 days. It's been past 6-10 days and i received a message from the buyer saying they have not received package yet. I didn't purchase insurance for it and because it's first class i can't track it. So I think the mail is lost... What do I do??? How do i deal with the Ebay customer!? Am I even responsible for lost package in mail?? I don't want to have to give them a refund. I would lose money and I don't even have the item because it has already been sent!

    First you need to call this number 1(800) 222-1811 to let the USPS know there is a problem and they will do what they can to fix it. Call at these times for a live operator. 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time (6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. CST) Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST) Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays (2008 Postal Holidays) Give them as much as information as you can such as the Custom Form number and anything they ask for, make sure you have your receipt with you when you call. As for the seller, all you can do is reassure them you are doing all you can possibly do to find out what happen to the Package. But be prepared to give them a refund if the package is lost. Next time insure the packages you send, it would be worth it regardless which carrier you send it.

call them then give the serial # of the receipt and they can locate the item. They can locate wheres the item using that serial number.
