What is the maximum height for carry-on luggage?

What is the difference between a carryon bag/ luggage/ baggage?

  • I'm not stupid I've just never traveled on an airplane before. It's the first time and I'm kinda young; and I'm also going by myself. I'm not going to bring that much just basic essentials and what I use daily to get me by. I want to keep it all in one suitcase so I can have it with me. I was planning on keeping all my clothes, personal items, shoes, acessories, etc in the large suitcase.. and then i wanted to have like a normal purse with me and keep my camera, cell phone, ipod, wallet, and their chargers in it. Would that purse that I keep with me be called the carryon bag? Or is that my suitcase... I'm kinda confused. I also read that you can bring razors, curlers, shower gels, shampoos etc in your "carry on bag" but then i read in another section that you cant bring any liquids or gels of any kinda onboard? im specifically flying on jetblue and here are the links maybe you can read it and help me out. http://help.jetblue.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/webisapi.dll?New,Kb=askBlue,case=obj(7373) http://help.jetblue.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/webisapi.dll?New,Kb=askBlue,case=obj(631)

  • Answer:

Carry on bag is the one which u can take with you in flight and it should be around 16 pounds. And luggage/checking baggage are the ones you have to check in. usually for international flights you are allowed to take 2 checkins of about 50 pounds each..

A carry on bag is what you bring in the airplane with you. It can hold anything you want for your journey. Possibly your iPod, book, magazine, anything! And yes, unless the liquids are under a certain amount of fluid ounces, they are not aloud on-board. Luggage is basically your suitcase that holds your clothing, toiletries, and other belongings. This is what you give to the workers right when you walk in the airport. It is what is put in the bottom of the plane. I am not sure what baggage. I've never heard of it. :)

If you want to keep it with you on the plane, it is 'carryon' and it can go under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. If you want to check it and then retrieve it at your destination, it is 'checked baggage'. Usually you are allowed one carryon of a certain size, and one personal item like a purse, so if your suitcase is small, you can have both it and your purse on the plane with you and not have to wait for your luggage when you get off the plane. Look on the airline site for the size requirements. Also, security requirements these days are tight on 'liquids' - things like shampoo and toothpaste have to be 3oz or less and in a clear plastic bag that you can take out of your luggage when you go through security, so sometimes it is better to put toiletries in a suitcase you check. If you have a laptop you'll also have to take that out.

your carry on bag is a smaller bag(purse) that you keep with you on the plane, you dont need one but the items you described would probably be best in it, it cant be to big so make sure its not a huge purse. and as for your razors, curlers.... put them in your luggage as they scan all your carry ons for stuff like that and you could get in some trouble. good luck :)

a carry on is a bag that you put in the overhead compartment and luggage is a bag that is put under the plane, you are also allowed a personal item (a bag/purse) that is to be kept under your seat. The rule about liquid is in these rules http://help.jetblue.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/webisapi.dll?New,Kb=askBlue,case=obj(7373)#s4 hope this helps! Have a good time!

Carry on is a small bag usually smaller than 20 inches, yes your bag is a carry on. A backpack would be good for your gear plus a change of underwear and any medicines you need. No razors or shampoos in your carry on. that will be searched so put your undergarments in clear plastic bags so no one handles them The less in your carry on the less time spent going through security.

carryon is a backpack/purse/ect that can fit with you on an airplane under your seat. im not sure the difference between luggage and baggage tho. my mother works jet blue and she would know but shes at work if i can contact her on her email ill tell you (ps the jetblue tv's rock... but now u need to bring a headset or buy one for $1 at the airport because they dont give them free any more)

Luggage and baggage are pretty much synonyms except baggage can also be used to express 'an unforeseen load or nuisance'. A carry-on bag is commonly seen as 'luggage that is small enough that it can be conveniently carried aboard'. Bon voyage!

Carry on is luggage you can carry (literally). Other luggage is like a suitcase, etc
