Going Backpacking in Europe for a month... What size pack do i need?
-
I'm looking at a pack thats 3650Cu ------------ Is this too small or what?
-
Answer:
I did this exact thing last year, and then again for only 2 weeks last month. I don't know exactly how large a 3650Cu backpack is, but it doesn't have to be ginormous, believe it or not. It also depends on what time of year you're going. If you're leaving this summer, don't take a sleeping bag -- just a sheet folded lengthwise and sewn on the bottom and side. Don't try to bring a month's worth of underwear or change of clothes because that's just ridiculous. Instead, bring a small ziplock bag of laundry detergent and a small portable clothesline and do it in the sink every so often (its not as inconvenient as you would think). Just doing those two things saves you a lot of space and weight. Also, you don't need to bring everything from you're medicine cabinet, bathroom drawer, and food from your kitchen. Believe it or not, people in other countries do in fact use these things and so you can buy them over there for very cheap. You only need one comfortable pair of shoes and some flip flops. ...Just realizing that you don't need to bring your whole house with you will make your trip a lot more enjoyable, your pack a lot smaller, and your back a lot less sore.

that depends entirely on your exact plans- you will need the clothing you plan on using to determine it's volume, the other gear you are taking, food stuffs you plan to carry (need to determine if there are import restrictions against what you plan to carry on this one), medications you require (again- check on import laws), in general everthing you plan to carry you need to know how much space it uses. once you know that, you'll know if 3650Cu (inches?) will be sufficient.

Who said size doesn't matter? Make sure that you can carry your pack comfortably and properly on your back. If not you could cause irrepareable dammage to your spine and posture. Make sure that it is large enought to carry all of your essentials but don't pack more than you can carry. Don't forget to pack a tooth brush, toothpaste. hair brush, a lot of clean socks and underware, a camera, maps, cell phone with electric plug and universal adapter, bottled water, money, passport, id, Insurance cards, credit cards, pictures of loved ones, as many forms of protection that may apply, possibly a container of pepper spray, and an extra pair of shoes. Know the currency exchange rate. OK so I don't know much about the bag but it's what is on the inside that counts.
