What does "Departure Scan" mean when tracking a package through USPS?
-
I bought an N64 and I was tracking the package and it says, Departure Scan, October 5th. Status: In transit. What does this mean?
-
Answer:
It means it has left the facility it was at and is on it's way to the next facility. When it's on it's way to your house (if that's where it's shipping to), it should say "Out For Delivery".

The package has a bar code on the shipping label. They use this to track the package. When they load it on a truck to leave the city they scan the bar code and it show up as "Departure Scan" on the computer. USPS is not always real good about scaning the packages at every step of the way. It might say in transit right up until you recieve it and it may not show as delivered until the next day.
