How long does it take to send a letter from UK to US 2nd class stamp?

  • I sent a letter to the Los Angeles from Newcastle with a 2nd class stamp 08/04/12 how long will it take to get there roughly?

    It won't go anywhere outside the UK with a second class stamp. If you are sending international mail you have to take the item to the post office where postage is determined by weight, size, method of delivery and destination. It'll cost you a lot more than a stamp to send something in the UK.

1st and 2nd class doesn't apply to international mail. Expect it to be returned to you.

It depends on whether anyone decides to let it through or open it and return to sender, or just bin it. Lots of ifs, buts and maybes, and a little luck as to if it gets there. You might be lucky in which case L.A. surface mail, 5 weeks.

2nd class is not a allowable stamp for international use. Way underpayment. Probably not sent, just binned. If it was it would be sent seamail with parcels so take forever! Resend the letter with correct amount of postage!

International stamp is needed. Get one at the Post office.
