Do I need a special driver's license to drive a rental car in Mexico?

Planning a trip to Mexico- what we want to do is fly into Mexico City and then rent a car and drive around... do we need a special license or anything- or is our US license along with the VISA fine? Never been out of the states before- please help with any information! Thanks!

All you need is a valid drivers license from your country of residence along with your credit card. An international drivers permit is only required in certain countries, mostly overseas. Hope this helps.

Wow. I have this question now too. My question is above yours, can you help answer. I think the US drivers license is fine, because I see my friends driving into TJ and other parts of mexico all the time.
