What is the zip code for Ciudad Obregon Sonora, Mexico?

Bus from eastern Mexico to western Mexico?

  • Ok, I'm planning on driving from the US to Veracruz, Mexico, with my family. We'd be crossing the border at Laredo. However, on the way home I may want to take a bus from some city on our route to Ciudad Obregon, Sonora. Does anyone have any idea which city would be the best to leave from, and which bus line it would be? For instance, I can pick up a bus from Mexico City (which would be on our way) to Guadalajara, then take a bus from GDL to Obregon. However, that would be a crazy long bus ride. Is there a better place to leave from than Mexico City, say Matehuala or San Luis Potosi? Thanks!

Due to mountains, there are limmited crossing routes. If you don't go through Guadalajara, you'll have to cross over from Durango to Mazatlan. You can take a bus from Mexico City without having to change in Guadalajara, but that's a 24 ride. From San Luis Potosí, you'll have to change in Guadalajara, but it's a shorter ride than from Mexico City. From Matehuala, You probably be looking at having to connect 3 times (Saltillo, Durango, Mazatlan). Consider taking a discount airline. One possible ride would be on VivaAerobus to Hermsillo. You'd transfer ibn Monterrey. Or if you are going to be in Matehuala take a bus to Monterrey to catch a flight. http://www.vivaaerobus.com/

You will have no problem, providing you have all the documentation. While you are not with your parents, if you are less than 18 years of age, you will need a notarized letter signed by both father and mother. I hope you realize that it will be an extremely long trip, like around 68 hours by bus. You will need to change buses in Mexico City. Do not know which station you will enter, but there are 4 stations (East, West, North, South). The northern station has over 100 bus companies that services it, so you can tell it might get very complicated, if you do not speak Spanish or cannot read the signs. Good luck and take care and you should be alright. This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

From Nuevo Laredo, my home town, you can take the Sonorense or Sendor luxury bus to Ciudad Obregon. You can reach most of the country from Nuevo Laredo by bus, or you could go to Monterrey and get more option. From GDL, you can take a ETN or Omnibus de Mexico to the same place, but the trip is much longer.

I'd go on a trip across Canada instead. It would be much safer. Be very careful way down in Old Mexico, especially with your family along. Many American tourists just disappear down there and are never heard from again. Some are kidnapped and held for ransom. Good luck and stay very alert.
