Can I use my temporary ID?

Can you use a temporary id to get into Progresso Mexico?

  • Right now, passports aren't required to go to Progresso but they do require a picture id and birth certificate. My husband lost his ID and has a temporary one (the paper one). Is that enough to be able to get back...and his birth certificate? He also has an old expired ID that he can present.

    You don't need any id to get INTO Mexico but you need one to get back to the US The agent has a database he can look information up on. Whatever he is driving with will work for the customs agent provided he can look up social security or DL number up. Note that if the agent wanted to be difficult what he has theoretically isn't sufficient. If he looks or sounds Mexican or south American you can expert more trouble then a white from Iowa type.

YOU NEED A PASSPORT. YOU NEED A PERMIT IN MEXICO. THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE IS GOOD BUT YOU NEED A SOLID I.D. THE TEMP. WON'T WORK. IT HAS TO BE CURRENT. ON THE WAY BACK,,, BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE A VALID I.D. IMMIGRATION CAN TAKE THE BOTH OF YOU TO SECONDARY AND CHECK YOU BOTH COMPLETLLY OUT!!!!! IT IS AT LEAST 2 HOURS CAUSE THEY WILL CHECK YOUR LUGGAGE AS WELL. PASSPORT ARE EASY TO GET AND THEY EVEN HAVE PLACES YOU GET A U.S. PASSPORT IN UNDER A HOUR IF NEED BE. JUST SHOW YOUR AIRLINE TICKET AND YOU ARE READY TO GO.

The requirement is for a current gov't issued photo I.D. The old one won't work and the paper one does not have a photo...so you need to wait.

An old ID wont work! he can bring it and show that is him but also bring the paper one! u should not have any problem :)
