What identification, if any, is required to walk across the border into Mexico?

• Please don't tell me about the requirements to reenter the USA. That is not part of the question. I only want to know two things. 1. Does the USA have guards that check ID or whatever before you are allowed by the USA government to leave the USA and thereby making the USA one big prison. 2. What identification, if any, does Mexico require to cross the border into their Mexico. And, if they check identification, do they make a record of your entry into Mexico and give that record to the USA government. The last time I went to Mexico, I just drove across and no one asked for identification. However, that was in 1990 before the USA government became control freaks and possibly pressured Mexico into doing the same.

  Hi. I live by a border region in deep south Texas, and my family and I travel to Mexico often. To enter the bordering states in Mexico no type of identification is needed or nor there are requirements, by Mexico nor the United States. To travel further into Mexico, passing the Mexican states that border the United States, a permit is required by the Mexican government. Since you are just walking across the border, there should be absolutely no problem. hope this helped :)
