How is Saltillo like?

Is Saltillo Mexico safe to travel to this 2011?

  • I want to travel to Saltillo Mexico this summer with my cousin. Our parents are skeptical of its safety because of what they hear and see on the news. I've be doing some research and cant find any reason why Saltillo is dangerous. But I wanted the advice of anyone else who has been there or lives there. I went to Saltillo last year and had SO much fun. I really want to go again this year with my cousin! Can anyone help? Thanks!

    Sure, just don't anger the locals or go looking for anything illegal. Make sure to take some good sunglasses, Saltillo is very sunny and windy.

I live on a border town of Saltillo. To tell the truth I do not ever hear much on the news about stuff happening in Saltillo. There are occasional incidents but all in all it is pretty safe. I just advice anybody to take the same precautions when traveling in Mexico as they would when traveling inside of any large city in the USA. Do not wear a lot of jewelery, gold watches etc... do not cary much cash, keep your wallet in your front pocket, and do not flash around an expensive cell phone. Just be a smart traveler and you will have a blast the same as last year. Saltillo is a wonderful town.
