What are some good vacationing spots in the states?

Best vacationing spots in Latin America other than cancun?

  • Looking for a nice Paradise vacationing spot. Going with the family. Want to stay at a nice resort on the beach. Cancun is cool, but we've been twice already and tends to be pretty full!

  • Answer:

I liked Playa del carmen which is just a 40 minute drive south of Cancun. never been to cancun, but I've heard it just too Americanized, big, too much traffic and not the kind of place I'd probably enjoy (I'm more of an off the beaten track traveler). Playa del Carmen is much smaller, really safe and nice. However, maybe you'd like to visit different kinds of beaches as well. I personally wouldn't reccomend Veracruz that much. A lot of mexicans love it, but I personally don't like Acapulco either. It's insanely dangerous to get even near the water in the Acapulco bay because the tide can pull you several miles into the ocean. However, the Acapulco princess hotel is REALLY nice, caters to a lot of American tourists and the water there is really safe to swim in. You'd probably like it. I also went to Manzanillo once which is a really quiet small beach city. Most of the hotels aren't really good (some don't even have a roof when I went there years ago), but the camino Real Hotel Hadas is really awesome. It's kind of like the house Luke Skywalker lived in with his uncles in Tatooine. I haven't been to either place, but a lot of tourists like to go to Huatulco and Puerto Vallarta. Might be worth checking out one of those. I'd personally enjoy more an almost untouched beach in Chiapas or Michoacán, but it's probably not the kind of place for you.

cancun vacation Part of the Yucatán Peninsula, Cancun quickly evolved into a truly world-class resort, with many outstanding stretches of white sandy beaches and Caribbean coastline. The development of the hotel complexes and overall infrastructure could hardly keep up with demand and Cancun quickly became a huge tourism success. Cancun is the ultimate vacation and resort destination whether your idea of a good time is surfing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, laying in the tropical sun, or staying out all night.

Belize is five hours south of Cancun, but it's a totally different English speaking nation. The main draw is the incredible SCUBA driving and snorkeling, but eco-tourism is growing along with the Maya ruins you can visit. http://bookit.com/central-america/belize/

Why not try Playa del Carmen? Its an hour from Cancun and ten times better. I went to Belize. It's a ripoff expensive third world country with crappy beaches and ghetto slums. The whole point of going to the third world country in the first place is to save a few bucks, isn't it. I would never go back. You could try Puerto Rico too
