• Has anyone gone to the mexican border with out passport recently and was able to come into the u.s. with driver licence and birth certificate.or how easy is it to get a passport same day.

  Almost everyone by now knows that a Passport law was passed and introduced on June 1st 2009. The reality is that it is Not being enforced on American citizens. It is Not illegal for an American to enter Hi/Her country without a Passport and there is No fine associated with attempting to do so. You May have a problem getting an FMM tourist permit as a Passport is required to get one for going inland or for staying longer than 72 hours in the border zone. Notable: It is unclear whether or not Mexico is enforcing the requirement and you might get an FMM from a consulate near you with sufficient ID . In the year since this requirement nobody has posted here that they were refused the 180 day FMM if they were American For re-entry , hundreds, if not thousands of Americans have posted "I just showed my CA drivers license" I was asked one question......are you American? Nobody has posted "They gave me a hassle" It is illegal for HS&BP to refuse an American entry to his/her country and is in fact a violation of international law. I get a kick out of some answers....You can`t get back in!!! lol When you are talking to HS&BP you are in America and you can`t be sent back or refused entry. To say you can is ridiculous, to say the least.
