Is Mexico losing tourism?

  • Is Mexico still a popular place for many to go to in general? I have heard of many who will not set foot in the country due to the ongoing drug war. Is tourism out there generally declining because of this?

    Yes and Ive heard a theory. the PRI (political party) who was in power (for 71 years!) when the cartels got their foot in the door in the government through bribery are once again working in concert with the PRI to help them regain power by waging war on tourism and regular citizens. This will certainly turn voters against the PAN (the current ruling political party) and get them to once again vote for the PRI. When the PRI is in power, back to business as usual, no more war on tourism and average people, and the cartels will do business freely once again w/o government getting in the way. We`ll see if it happens this way as the PRI (Enrique Peña Nieto) is sure to win the presidency as he`s very popular. :-(

Si México es perder porque de Turismo de la droga. Mucha gente frea viajar a México debido a la violencia. Parece no haber ningún control en México. El Gobierno no parece hacer cumplir la ley. Yes it has specially from USA where there media has hit Mexico bad so people are afraid to go. some places have increase regular tourism like south mexico and central mexico. Sex tourism has decrease a lot due to unsafe border towns and paid sex has become very expensive compare to Costa Rica. I dont think Costa Rica will take all Mexico tourism it is just not possible, it just cannot offer with Mexico has, for example Mexico city is one of the cities with most museums on the world
