Medical Tourism, Surgey in Tijana Mexico, is it safe?
-
Is it safe to travel to Tijuana Mexico, with Medical Tourism Corporation for Surgery? Has anyone done this?
-
Answer:
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. You hear of lots of examples of people who go on these cheap trips to get some kind of cosmetic surgery, and come back looking ten times worse.

Medical Tourism is a rising trend, and for very good reason. Many hospitals abroad are equipped with Internationally trained surgeons as well as hospitals that are JCI accredited (the same organization that accredits US hospitals). Travel For Care is a Medical Travel firm located in Monterrey, Mexico. We have done the research on our doctors and institutions, and only offer the very best at affordable prices. All the surgeons in our network are Internationally trained, and our hospitals are JCI accredited. Monterrey is a modern, beautiful city located in Northern Mexico (just 2 hours south of Laredo TX). Please contact us at www.travelforcare.com we would be more than happy to assist you.

I don't know about Tijuana as a destination. Cities such as Monterrey and Guadalajara have world class hospitals with many doctors who have trained in Europe or the states and speak some English. I don't know anything about that particular company.

Hi Tina, are you referring to http://www.medicaltourismco.com/weight-loss/bariatric-surgery.php. Looks like they are good standing member of BBB & have numerous video testimonials of happy clients online. Why don't you request them to get you in touch with some who have visited Tijuana for the surgery. Also, video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuUtGKUFdBY has some practical tips at the end on how to avoid trouble while in Mexico. My best wishes to you on your upcoming surgery.

I would agree with Marci, but also add Merida to her list. Star Medica has a very good reputation and I have personally know people who have had procedures done there. They all rave about the place. BTW. Star Medica was the hospital that was secret service approved (or whoever does that) to treat President Bush in case of emergency in advance of his trip to the Yucatan.

First, what procedure(s) are you considering? Is this company advertising in one-day, out the next type of plan? Or close to that? If so, STAY AWAY. Please consider doing more research based upon what it is you are planning to do. Don't jump at this due to price or "extras". There are exceptional med/surg facilities in Puerto Vallarta, with English speaking staff and sensitive follow-up processes. PV has state of the art equipment with specialists trained in the multitude of procedures. There are bulletin boards owned and moderated by locals in PV, with this subject covered. Go to these sites and do a "search" on surgery, etc. to pull up the answers. A local in PV, Pam Thompson, is a subject matter expert on matters of health referrals, resources, and direction. Type in her name in Search with Puerto Vallarta for more info.
It is about as safe as playing Russian roulette, if you take into account that for 10 000 pesos you can buy a MD diploma here signed and sealed and complete with your pix, and from a prestigious university even if the holder has no idea whether the appendix is to be found in the brain or in the stomach. STAY AWAY.
