How to travel cheaply in Mexico?

How safe is it to travel into Mexico?

  • I'm thinking of traveling into Mexico in a few weeks me and a friend are going to stay there for a week. We are driving into Mexico from the Texas border and staying in a town about 7 hours away. But I'm a little scared, people make comments that it's too dangerous to drive into Mexico. I also watch the news and hear stories that make me a bit scared. Is it really that dangerous? Should I be scared? Especially 2 females driving alone?

  • Answer:

ok, if you been to mexico 1000 times and nothing happens, then good for you, but truth is that it depends on where u are going, usually those news u see or hear about happen in the big cities, but the towns are way different and calm, u can enjoy your stay, but take precausions to your trip because you are 2 females driving into mexico, don't be scared just watch out, i'm mexican 100% and i know mexico very well and how we are, although we treat everyone nice down there, we ain't bad at all, but that's as long as you don't insult mexicans otherwise u are in trouble, trust me!

Personally,I no longer drive in Mexico.I think it is much easier to take the bus. With a car you have the added expense/time of permits, insurance, bond, gasoline, tolls, finding a safe place to park, traffic or parking tickets, etc.Getting around in Mexico without your own car is not nearly as hard or inconvienent as it is in the U.S. Public transportation throughout Mexico is both efficient and inexpensive.Of course it would depend on where exactly you are going in Mexico, but generally speaking you should be safe. Most of the problems you read about are confined to the areas close to the international border. However you choose to go,have a great trip.

Ok dont worry I used to live in Mexico for 6 years and nothing bad happens unless you go too the ghetto towns like in the capital there is this town called Tepito and it's like you driving through Compton wearing crips clothes. But most of Mexico is aether Country-type or sub-urban the place i recommend you to stay is in Puebla. They have nice people it's about 1-2 hours from the beach and they have a volcano there and the view is tunning but if you go to the capital is like going to DC.

Just be careful around the borders. I go visit my family down south in Mexico and I would say the borders are not too safe. At least I don't being at the border.Just dont lose eachother at all because they will take advantage of you. Yeah it it's usually bad in the low class areas but have fun
