Can I bring 2 laptops in a carryon bag from the US into Mexico?

  • Will airlines allow you to bring 2 laptops in a carryon bag? I want to bring an old laptop to leave in Mexico at my friend's house and a newer one that I will also need while I am there and to bring back with me.

    The problem is not whether you can carry on two computers or not. Mexican customs only allows you to bring one computer into the country on a tourist visa. If you are traveling with someont, ask them to carry the other computer. You have about a 10% chance or less of getting the red light and having your bags inspected at Mexican customs if you want to take the chance.

yes.....although they might want to know why you have two. the big deal is the desktop computers...they get really weird about those. but laptops are ok.

The airlines doesn't care. Customs in Mexico will care. You are only allowed one laptop. You will see what they say when you press the button and get a RED light. >>>> Shipping by DHL, UPS or other does not avoid customs fees. Actually it would assure you would be charged

You are allowed one carry on bag weighting 40Lbs or less and not bigger than 45 linear inches (height,width,length) and 1 personal item (purse, laptop etc). I would say you are okay. If that's all you are carrying on. s

I traveled to Mexico from New Jersey in January. My husband and I both carried laptops and we didn't have any problems. They only thing that we had to do was open them and turn them on.

As long as they fit, don't carry more than 5 with tags still on them :P

Play it safe and ship one of the computers. Mexico has all of the major shippers (DHL, UPS, etc...) The cost isnt bad, you have a vaild shipping address, and this will help avoid any problems in customs.
