What state are you from?

What are some facts about the state of New Mexico?

  • I am Doing a Project for school and I was wondering if you could help me out. Here is the format: UPDATE population facts and ethnic facts You will need the flag replicated – KNOW the meanings **Year of statehood, capital, etc. (see all data on these pages) **Interesting stories that accompany your state becoming a state/ date/ etc. **State Flower/ motto/ state song (play a copy for us)/ state animal, if one (usually there’s a bird) **WRITE to the state capital for information . . . or directly to tourist attractions for pamphlets, etc. What to see and do: **Why do tourists visit your state? Research at least three of those destinations IN DETAIL **Industry/economy: KNOW the details of what supports the people in your state. Take Connecticut, for example: The textbook says “manufacturing, retail trade, government.” EXPLAIN what is manufactured/ from where the raw materials come/ to whom the goods are sold/ WHAT goods are involved in the “retail trade?” What about the government? **Foods/ cultural details/ Florida, for instance, has cultural influences form the Spanish, not only from the early explorers (Think St. Augustine and architectural influences), but also from the influx of Hispanic people from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and so forth. Think about Little Havana in Tampa (rolled cigars) and sponge trade from Tarpon Springs (Greek influences). **Climate/ geographical features (land and water features) **Climagraph – Well drawn and colored and mounted on your tri-fold board Are there any sports teams there you want to highlight? Colleges, universities, other details from your research of your state. What famous people live there, are from there (born there)? For instance, though not born here, Ernest Hemingway is associated with Key West, in Florida. **Governor/ federal officials (Senators and Congressmen)/ Websites: infoplease.com (click on the fifty states) And do a search using (name of your state).gov (e.g., Florida.gov) ALL websites/ even if just picking up an image/ MUST be documented and turned in. What goes on the tri-fold? Climagraph, brochures, answers from penpals, pictures from any of your research (such as physical features, ways people earn their living, tourist attractions), pie charts showing break-out of cultural groups in your state. EVERYTHING that you would do to showcase your state . . . it’s like a store-front window. You “invite” others to “visit” and learn about your state. INCLUDE a map of your state AND designate where things of importance are located! PosterBoard . . . regular, full-size, any color you choose. Cut out in shape of your state and cover it with pictures PRESENTATION: You may choose how to present, BUT using technology is suggested. Other ideas might be skits. PLAN to play an audio of your state’s song. Thanks for helping

  • Answer:

Wrong category. New Mexico is a US state (since 1912) and you posted in "Mexico" in the "Travel" section. Try again and put it in the "History" or "Homework Help" section. Most of what you're looking for you can get on the Wikipedia page, BTW.
