  • Answer:

If you are a native born US citizen, all you need is a copy of your birth certificate. Go on line to US Govt. website and you can find everything. The other way is to go to the US post office and pick up the application. With that you will get all of the information about applying for a passport. You do not get a passport to Mexico. If you are going to be there for an extended time, you should apply for a VISA. Again, go on line to the closest mexican consulate to your residence and they will give you all of the information as to the requirements for US citizens traveling in Mexico. This is the same method you would use for traveling to most countries. You have to check the requirements of each country that you plan to visit. Some of them require US citizens to have Visas and some do not. The best thing is to go online with each countries cosulate offices and get the information. Some small countries do not have consulate offices but only embassies. They will offer the same service. You will need a valid US passport in all cases.

you dont really need anything but your california id the government here is practically non existant you can do all kinds of neat stuff here like bribe cops and drive without a license or registration as long as you have 20 bucks youll be ok but if you want a passport due to upcoming laws then you go to the mexican board of tourism or to any greyhound bus terminal and tell them you want a TOURISTS VISA TO TRAVEL IN MEXICO from there you wont have any problems getting your fm 3 or passport. look me up on yahoo for more details....kenallen75

You do not get a passport to Mexico!! Passport is a travel document for a citizen of a country If you are American you get an American passport if you are a Mexican citizen you get a Mexican passport You have to be an Mexican citizen to get a Mexican passport. You need a valid passport from your country of citizenship to have.....a VISA to the country you want to visit, A VISA is a entry permit issue by the country you want to visit in this case MEXICO , the Mexican authorities will give you a visa after you get your passport..visa are granted by consulates...check for your nearest Mexican Consulate to request one.......because in the way I do understand you are going to move there ...if you are going to visit for a couple of weeks you only need a valid passport, so you can be with your beloved Alfredo.. To travel to Mexico, up until now, all you needed was an US ID and a copy of your birth certificate, and you were able to travel to Mexico but as of Dec 31, 2006(see link below), you will be required a passport. Not to travel to Mexico, but to come back to the US, so I recommend get the passport. Furthermore, if you travel to Mexico by plane, you will only get a 90 to 180 visa to stay in Mexico. Also, to find out what you need to work or live in Mexico, below is also a link with additional information, or you can go to your local Mexican embassy for further info.
