When is the best time of year to go to puerta vallarta?

  • What is the best season to go to Puerta Vallarta? I want to avoid major humidity. I would like the lighting storms but not major hurricane weather. When is the best time to go?

    Best time to go to PV is Janurary - March. I've been there in May, August, November, January, February, March and April. May is warming up and humidity is on the rise. By August, it's blast furnace hot with humidity in the 90's. If you aren't going to move, and stay in an air conditioned compound, maybe it's ok...I like the place a lot, so I am biased...but the best time is January through March. You may still get a lightning show, but those are most prominent in July, August and September. I always stay south end, near Playa Los Muertos, because it's quieter, and has less of a tourist feel. We have made many friends down there...lovely people, great food, good bargains (if you know how to haggle and where to go). Have a nice trip if you go!

I have been to Puerta Vallarta twice, once in May and again in July. In May (Spring) the weather was great, hot but not really humid. In July it was really hot and humid so try not to go anytime in the Summer months (June to Sept). Hurricanes usually hit during the Summer. While there try to take advantage of some excursions, bus trips into the hills around PV also boat trips usually arranged through the hotels. Enjoy, the Mexican folk are great. Buenos dias.

Major humidity happens during the rainy season, this is from July to October. If you enjoy lighting storms this is during the same rainy season. About hurricanes coming to Mexico, they will have aprox 20 of them in the Atlantic and Pacific ocean for 2008. Best time to go to Vallarta is from November to April. However, the rainy season is spectacular and wonderful. Most of the time it rains after 5pm so it will give you a change to have a nice sunshine time on the beach during the day.
