When is the least expensive time to fly to Manzanillo, Mexico?

Looking for work in Melaque, Mexico?

  • For personal reasons, I am planning on moving to the west coast of Mexico this summer, and was looking for any good job leads. Melaque, Manzanillo, even Puerto Vallarta would be good, as I am probably looking for part time work anyhow, so a drive up to a couple hours is not totally out of the question. Particularly in the SCUBA industry. Thanks.

I don't think I would want to live in Mexico at the moment. I don't know if it's designated to just a few areas, but the drug wars seem fierce and the police force is corrupt as hell. I'm sure you would be ok as long as you stayed strait, but is it worth the risks? How about Hawaii? Obviously very expensive to live, but you can always get around that if you don't mind living with others or in lower income places. I had a friend move out there and he takes people out to Molokini Crater off Maui. He lives a very low key life, fishing for himself, small apartment with very little belongings. He seems to love it, but it aint for everybody. Do you need to leave the country or something??

Just wan to be sure you know that you cannot work in Mexico without a work visa. Must find an employer first and he must submit a letter to immigration stating he cannot find a Mexican citizen for that job. Then you will get a visa with a work permit that must be renewed yearly.

Will be pretty hard to work in a touristy place (especially Puerto Vallarta) with no visa. Mexico treats illegal workers harshly. You'll have better chances if you settled down in a non touristy beach in a tiny village in a place like Michoacan or Chiapas and even then who knows if the people that go there would pay for scuba diving classes which can be expensive. Local mexicans your work would be competing against will not be happy about competing against you especially since you'd be doing so with no papers. The mexican government for a reason has been deporting tons of Argentinians from Playa del Carmen. English is becoming less of an asset in touristy beach regions because everyone speaks the language at least to a conversational level. You have much better chances of getting work in a village working in a farm or doing other sorts of oddball jobs far from the eyes of the police if you are friendly to the locals and don't mind mediocre pay. Don't ignore the comments that salaries in Mexico aren't the best. Doctors in Mexico earn an average of only 45,000 a year to give an example.

Not gonna happen there Sparky . Retire here - Come on down weathers great ! Work here - Laughable. Un employment figures when I look around about 25 to 30%. Pay for the same job in the states - about a 1/3. Why do you think they are going to the US ? DUH ! Try and work w/o your FM3 - You will be caught . Mexicans have a dog eat dog mentality and really would be less than thrilled that a gringo has taken a job that Paco could have. They will narc you out ! http://www.rollybrook.com/workingfm3.htm EVERYTHING on his site is 100 % accurate !
