Why is the public transport (metro rail) in Mexico City so popular?

Metro is simply the BEST way to get around in Mexico City. * It's fast --- you can cross the city in much less time than by car * It's cheap --- 3 pesos (about a quarter) to go anywhere in the city! * It's convenient --- the trains go just about anywhere you'd want to go.

For all the obvious reasons but the most significant is the price. Lines vary in cost from 40 pesos up to 60 and you have to pay for every line you use. You can Not, in other words jump on the Metro and go all over town. Traffic is a nightmare to say the least. Parking , the same thing. The quickest and most efficient way to get around most cities, Mexico is the Poster city for all of North America in my opinion.

It's popular cause the traffic there is super heavy and people need to get to work on time and mostly everyone works so they take the metro to get to places faster. And the buses at Mexico city get really full fast so they'd rather take the metro station

Most people ride it for two reasons. One is because that's their only way to get to one place to another. Second is just for the hell of it.
