What are the best shore excursions for my Cruise in October?

Adventurous Cozumel cruise experts who like fun excursions, what is your best suggestion for our shore stop?

  • I went to Cozumel once before back in 2001 or 2002--at the time, my favorite shore excursion was the visit to Xel-Ha. I snorkeled there for the first time in the big lagoon--I saw sting rays, fish bigger than my arm, and a barracuda. I have since gotten married and have told my husband wonderful stories about it--we're going on a cruise this November, but the agent suggested that we might not want to try Xel-Ha again as it's coral reef was severely damaged in a hurricane. So...suggestion for us: either some amazing snorkeling adventure at Cozumel, or some amazing shore excursion at the nearby mainland? We love adventurous stuff, and my husband loves caves--but I'd sure like to do some crazy snorkeling with him where we see amazing critters. Does anyone with more expertise have some suggestions? And also, do you recommend getting away from the ship's excursions and trying the local's on our own? Thanks in advance!

You should do the jungle tour! They take you out in jeeps and you drive through the jungle! IT was awesome! you saw a few ruins and then had lunch on the beach and played beach volleyball! I think that it would be fun to try something now from the cruise line but it is also dangerous to do in a foreign country. You said you were adventerous so maybe you should do it!

My best advice would be to stay on the ship, I was there by mistake 3 months ago.
