Has anyone stayed at The Royal Cancun and Dreams Cancun that can tell me the pro's and con's of each?
-
I am going to cancun in June for 5 days and there are good deals for The Royal and Dreams. The Royal is more expensive but seems to offer more and I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra money. Dreams would be aboue $600 less for the same type of room. This is my honeymoon though and I don't want to regret trying to save $$ if the Royal is really much better.

Answer:
My wife took me to the Royal last summer for a suprise birthday gift and another couple joined us. I would recommend the Royal especially if you want to impress your spouse. It is realitively new. They great u with Champagne and a cool towel as you check in. As soon as you walk in you will be impressed by how the lobby looks. The rooms are nice w/2 person jacuzzi. And the Shower is like 1/2 the bath room with jets coming out the walls. The room is stocked with drinks and alchohol. The Bar area is cool with beds hanging from the ceiling. The infinity pool area is really nice and is where we spent most our time. Most the restaurants are really good. They have a 24hr room that has food and drinks all day and includes a pool table, ping pong and flat screens to chill out. You would not regret going there. The resort is adult only, so you will not see any kids running around. The reviews Ive seen of Dreams usuially mentions a lot of families, so you'll have to deal with the kids on your honeymoon. Our friends originally stayed in the Hyatt right next to Dreams and after seeing our place, they got a room. They got the room with the swim up pool which is incredible! Their balcony opens into a private pool. We hung out there a lot. If you can splurge I would recommend it. We went to the Dreams and checked out the property. It seems nice but older. From 1st impressions it does not compare. Another note, when we arrived in Cancun we were on a a shared van that dropped folks off to other hotels. A lot of people got excited when they heard we were staying at the Royal and talked about how its one of the best resorts in Cancun. We liked it so much, we are going back with a group of folks in March. I know this was wordy but hopefully it helps.

We stayed at the dreams before they converted the lagoon into a dolphin area Dreams service , food and amenities are exceptional .. but we stayed in the main hotel ( not the tower) and the rooms were a bit dated A walk around the resort has some really breathtaking views as well Unfortunately I cannot fully answer your question as I have not stayed at the Royal
