Best place for young couples to go on Holiday?

Cancun a student destination? Best place to go?

  • Recently me and my friends have been talking about a summer holiday for 2012, now most people go to Mediterranean destinations, but we thought otherwise. After looking through holiday brochures and speaking to different travel agents we stumbled upon Cancun, a long distance holiday under the hot Mexican sun. Everything about it looked appealing the weak currency to the pound and the excitement of going somewhere different than Magaluf or Ibiza.. So we were wandering is Cancun a place for students, with exceptional night life? Or is it more of a couples destination/honeymoon. Is it really that cheap? We checked and it's 20 peso to the pound so that looks very good (but is it) Does this so called 'spring break' actually kick start there, if so when is prime time as we're planning on heading over there in June/July time. FINALLY, should we bother travelling all that way, just to party hard? or just head over to Ayia Napa for half the price and have a epic time? Anyone traveled over to Cancun from the U.K.? (Money isn't a major concern as all of us are on fairly good money for 18 yr old's) Let us know your thoughts, cheers.

  • Answer:

A lot of US and Canadian students do go to Cancun for the spring break party scene which starts in the first week of March and ends the beginning of April this year. Most of the students stay at the hotel strip which is close to the city of Cancun. June and July are getting into the rainy and hurricane season. It's hot and very humid this time of the year. If your just wanting to party, I would say save your money and go to Ayia Napa. I have met several people from GB that visit the Mayan Riviera each year in the winter months and they enjoy it. Their only complaint is the distance. You would need at least two weeks of holidays to make the trip worth the travel time.

in reply Yes, cancun is the #1 US college student spring break destination in the world It's not really "cheap" the prices are similar to New York actually. If you go in the summer, it's called Grad Break or Summer Break and if you go the first or second week in June, there will be students but high school graduates (18 years of age) Inertia Tours Chad...OUT!!

Cancun is definitely a singles and a couples destination. Cancun is known for it's night life.

Cancun is definitely a party town. You will have a lot of fun. Yes, Mexico will be cheap compared to the UK. When you get to Mexico pull pesos form the ATM to get the best exchange rate and pay in pesos always. They will take dollars also but will be more expensive. You do have a point, if all you want to do is party don't bother going that far. However, if you want much better beaches, better service, better hotel for your money, and different activities during the day, then try Cancun. I hope this helps.
