Will the beaches in Cancun be open to the public?

Does "adults only" hotel in cancun mean the beaches will be topless?

  • Im trying to pick a hotel in Cancun and many say "adults only" Im just picturing topless women all over the hotels beaches, which is not what Im looking for. Can anyone help?

  • Answer:

Resorts saying "hedonistic" may mean that there is some topless involved. When a resort say "adults only" it means that adults can be sure that there are no children making noise and fussing around so that you can relax and have a nice time. Been twice to Cancun and I didnt see any topless (like Punta Cana where nearly everyone was topless!) Usually the europeans are the ones in topless (no offense!) and Cancun is quite americanized. Been to Gran Melia and Fiesta Americana Coral beach and never saw a nude woman in either one.

Toplessness is common on Cancun beaches, as is nudity in some designated areas. The phrase "adults only" may mean that toplessness and/or nudity is accepted, or it may simply mean that children under a certain age aren't allowed at the hotel or resort...for the convenience of guests who may not be comfortable around children. The best thing to do would be to contact the hotels you're considering and simply ask them about your concerns. Have a great vacation!

Americans loose your puritanism, what is wrong with a woman being top less at the beach? she is just in the nature, and please men buy some short swimming suits instead of using your grand pa's adults only means no children, unusual for Mexico....

no, it means that there will be no children on those beaches...the beaches that the hotel owns. mexico is a really conservative country....there are not a lot of topless beaches. i'm remembering a rule in puerto vallarta.....saying that none of the beaches could be "private" and the hotels were getting in big trouble for trying to block some people off their beach areas. so....although the hotel may be adults only, that doens't mean the beach will be.

In Cancun, even if the hotel is NOT ADULT ONLY, people still go topless....especially the Europeans. They don't care. In Cancun Mexico people don't freak out because someone goes topless, unlike here in the U.S. Nudity is a beautiful normal thing.

I second the vote for Palace Resorts. I didnt see any topless women while at Moon Palace, or Sun Palace.

Under Mexican law there are no "private" beaches. All the beaches in Mexico allow public access.

It means "children are not allowed" You may see some topless at some of these resorts. But not full nudity. Stay with the Palace resorts and you will be very happy. Enjoy)

usually this means that they don't want their "adult" customers being bothered by a lot of children running around "bothering" them.

Not necessarily! It just means that there aren't any kids allowed in the hotel!
