Fun day trips from Acapulco?
-
I am going to Acapulco in July with a friend. We have been before and done everything there is to do in the city. I am interested in ideas for trips we could take within 1 day. Cool villages, nature stuff, etc.

Answer:
Favorite beach - Pie de la Cuesta. Maybe 30 minutes north. Dont waste your time with Colleta to the north and Puerta maquis to the south. Heres what I'd do. Probably rent a car just for the freedom but not neccesary. Stay a night and day at a hotel at Pie de la Cuesta wake up and take the road north. You will go thru the coconut groves and Tecpan. Just before Tecpan you can visit Playa Azul. It has a river and lake right there next to the beach. Incredible is all I can say. Waves from the ocean on average are 20 feet and Ive been ther and seen some 30 footers ! You will have the place to yourselfs much like Pie de la Cuesta - deserted. Spend some time there and head north again. About an hour north the highway will sweep around a bend and there are a few little resturants ( nothing else there ) on the side of the road. They have the most incredidbile views of the ocean which is about a quarter mile - have lunch , grab a beer and walk down to the beach. Again youll have it to your selves. Continue about another1 and a half hours and your in Ixtapa and Zuihantinue (?). Spend the night and next day on their beaches and return the car or drive back. This will give you the real Mexico - stuff not in a travel brochure. It will also put you on some of the most deserted and georgeous beaches in Mexico. I hate crowds and tourist and those pesky vendors. You will get some authentic food and probably will not see a tourist the whole way. if nothing else go to Pie de la Cuesta. You Tube has some videos as well as a google search. I am there just about every day. There is a fresh water lagoon just on the other side of the road - I have my boat and jet skii there and its just a laid back outta tha way deserted beach. You can take a green bus near the marina or Fort of san diego - its labeled Pie de la Cuesta - but take the one that has Playa Luces also and take it all the way out past the air force base. It will drop you off in the middle of nowhere and you wont here the buses , the horns the NOISE polution you have in Acapulco - you will just here the birds and ocean waves crashing - peaceful and flat. I have some pictures if you want or need anything else. just link over to me and give me a jingle with your email.
