Where do I start to be a RN?

RN from US moving to Florianópolis, Brazil. Where to start?

  • I'm a registered nurse in the US and sometime in the next year I'm planning on moving to Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil to work as a nurse. Does anyone have advice on where to start? I'm learning portuguese now. Will I be able to survive on a nurse's pay in Brazil? How does nursing differ as a profession in brazil vs. the US? How much autonomy, etc. Are there any organizations that specialize in sending nurses to work in Brazil? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Answer:

You will have problems to work as nurse in Brazil. The profession demands diploma of superior level (academical) registered in ministry of Education and I don't know if the United states nurse's course is recognized here in Brazil. Exists a function that is aiding of nursing services , it is a brief course but the wage is small.
