Answer:
Zelaya is a Leftist and was elected President in Honduras. The Constitution allows only one term as President, and this provision is not subject to revision; it's set in stone by the Constitution. Zelaya wanted a referendum on this term limit. The Congress and the Supreme Court agreed that this referendum was unconstitutional. Zelaya ordered the military to distribute the ballots (printed in Venezuela). [This is a normal function of the Honduran military.] The head of the military refused because it was against the law. Zelaya fired him. The Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution does not allow a referendum on the term limit, and that Zelaya was violating the Constitution; the Constitution required him to step down. He refused. The Supreme Court ordered the military to take him into custody and send him to Costa Rica, which they did. Nobody died. The next person in succession for the Presidency was sworn in; he's in the same political party as Zelaya. It seems to me that the removal of Zelaya was analogous to an impeachment and removal of a US President. It was done in accordance to the law and in protection of the democratic system in Honduras. In Costa Rica, Zelaya met with Chavez [Venezuela] and Ortega [Nicaragua], both Leftist. Cuba is Leftist too. It seems to me that Zelaya was trying to follow Chavez's strategy, getting elected first and then making sure he could stay President indefinitely. Even Obama (US) was on the side of Zelaya against the Honduran Constitutional term limits. The country is naturally tense. There is a curfew and some road blocks and arrests. As far as I know, there have been no deaths. There are protesters on both sides, but the government is in a state of emergency and very tight security. The OAS and other countries are on the side of Zelaya, which I don't quite understand. I understand that Cuba and Chavez and Ortega would be on his side because they have similar views. Even so, I think the Honduran Constitution is sufficiently democratic that it is worth defending. It allows only one term as President (the US allows two) precisely to avoid the danger of this kind of take-over by Zelaya.

Thanks 'First Dragon'. . .That was a short but concise explanation you gave without the media rhetoric. About Hussein Obama or Nobama as many are calling him now, he is in with the leftist crowd and pushing for Socialism in USA. He would also like to scrap term limits and rewrite the USA constitution. Very unsavory character in many people's opinion. . .During his campaign he and his handlers did not even wanted the Hussein name being used to cover his Muslim roots. There are a lot more suspicions now than before. BTW what happened in Honduras was the right thing, populace should handle it when governments get out of hand.
