Has anyone here been to Salvador, Bahia in Brazil?

Has anyone ever traveled to Salvador, Brazil? Did you like it? What was it like?

  • Im looking at traveling there this year. However, Im looking for the opinions of those who are not natives of Brazil to give me their take on it? Perhaps you could recommend a good website to visit? Places of interest? Would you travel there again? If not, why? Etc. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks

  • Answer:

Someday, very soon, I plan to go there too... Some people told me that this city is the most " african" city in Brazil, and that there more beautiful beaches than in Rio... Well, I am interested to go and visit this place, but I just hope they have a very efficient police force in order to protect the tourists...

In my opinion Salvador de Bahia is undeniably one of the greatest cities in the world. It has everything a traveler could want or need but like many other great cities in the world is still relatively unknown to most people in North America.I was lucky enough to stumble on it a few years ago while working temporarily in another area of the country.I have included some links with photos and information about the city. Would I go back? Yes,as many times as I can.The only negative is that it is fairly expensive. http://www.bahia-online.net/ http://www.reaiche.org/Brazil.html http://www.emtursa.ba.gov.br/template.asp http://www.ontheroadtravel.com/travel-
