Whats the best way to travel around in South America?

Whats the cheapest way to travel through South America?

  • I plan on flying into Lima, Peru. Backpacking my way down to Buenos Aires. Any sites that will let you buy round trip but open flight on return in case I decide to stay longer than four months?

  • Answer:

Hi there, sure, you can buy a roundtrip ticket with any airline and an open return flight, however, it'll cost you a lot of money. It might be cheaper to get the cheapest round trip ticket, and if you wanna return later you just pay the penalty, which is usually around $ 250.00. I am presently travelling throughout South America for 6 months and bought a round trip ticket to Bogota which serves me well. I am travelling through Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay.

LIma is the cheapest place to fly into. I think the other person is right. It will probably be cheaper to buy a round trip and pay a penalty.
